Max Branning will be waving goodbye to Walford as Jake Wood confirms EastEnders exit.
The actor will leave the BBC soap in upcoming scenes after 15 years with reports suggesting the character will bow out in a huge new storyline.
An EastEnders source confirmed the news to Mirror online on Wednesday.
Jake confirmed the news, saying: "I've had 15 wonderful years at EastEnders and have made some truly great friends.
"I'll of course miss everyone there but I'm grateful they have left the door open for Max and I’m excited to see what the next chapter holds."
Jon Sen, Executive Producer also shared the news, and teased what fans might expect from the exit.
He said: "Jake is a truly wonderful actor and EastEnders have been extremely lucky to have him for so long.
"We have a big storyline for Max that starts in the coming weeks and we are all very excited to see that play out."
The mystery storyline will begin in the coming weeks, while a date for his exit episode has yet to be confirmed.
In more than decade, Max has been involved in some of the soaps most shocking storylines.

During the soap's break due to a halt in filming, the BBC re-aired the moment Max and Stacey's affair was exposed, despite Stacey being married to Max's son Bradley.
And not only did Max witness Bradley fall from the roof of the Queen Vic, he also saw his daughters Lauren and Abi do the exact same in a bombshell Christmas storyline.
EastEnders airs Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays on BBC One.
