Max Boruc welcomes Hibs education from David Marshall as he prepares for battle big cousin Artur already fought

Max Boruc insists he couldn’t turn down the chance to learn from David Marshall after completing his move from Slask Wroclaw to Hibs on a two-year deal.

The goalkeeper will compete with the veteran former Scotland shotstopper - as well as new signing Joe Wollacott - for the number one jersey at Easter Road. It comes almost two decades after his big cousin Artur did likewise with Marshall at Celtic. Boruc spent two weeks on trial with Hibs back in April and is looking to take his game to another level in Leith with a little help from coach Stuart Garden and the older heads in the goalkeeping department.

He said: “It’s the best opportunity for me. Learning from an experienced goalkeeper who has played international level, in England and Scotland. I couldn’t imagine a better option than to come here and learn from Marshall. I want to learn as much as I can from him.

"I’m really looking forward to the challenge, it’s such a great club with a great atmosphere. I came here for two weeks and really enjoyed training with Stuart Garden. He’s a great goalkeeping coach.

“We created a really good group. That’s another reason I liked it here because every day I was learning something new.”

Boruc arrived just days after boss Lee Johnson signed Ghana international Wollacott from Charlton. And the 20-year-old Pole reckons the three-way fight for the number one spot will ensure Hibs' future is in safe hands.

He said: “There’s only one spot and as a group we need to be pushing each other, learning from each other because we all come from different countries, are different ages and come from different career paths.

“Whoever is playing we just need to push each other.”
