Max Allegri confirms where next amid continued Chelsea speculation

Max Allegri has confirmed that he will NOT be the next manager of Chelsea .

The ex-Juventus boss has revealed that he won’t be returning to management anywhere in 2019-20, but will instead be taking a sabbatical following his Turin exit.

The Italian has been heavily linked with the job at Stamford Bridge, with Maurizio Sarri set to leave.

On Thursday night Chelsea agreed a deal with Juve which will see Sarri return to his homeland - ironically as Allegri’s replacement.

Frank Lampard is in pole position to replace Sarri.

Allegri, 51, left Juventus last month after winning five successive Scudetto titles.

He also led the Bianconeri to two Champions League finals before electing to depart, 12 months before the end of his deal.

Speculation has linked Allegri with new jobs, both in the Premier League and elsewhere; he is reported to have turned down €10million-a-year deal to return to AC Milan.

Allegri has largely kept his own counsel since the press conference announcing his Juve exit.

But speaking at the Castello Sforzesco in Milan, Allegri confirmed his immediate future will be spent away from football.

Allegri declared: “I will stay [away] for a year because I have to get back my private life, to find my family, children and friends after so many years.

“These last 16 years I have been in a centrifuge. I will give my family, children and friends some affection.

“This year, I will need this [time off] in order to recharge my batteries for the next season.”

Allegri's stock won't drop over the course of the next 12 months and he will be linked with Europe's elite throughout 2019-20 if, at any point, any of the continent's big hitters under-perform.

In recent weeks he has also found himself linked with Manchester United , Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich - despite all three having managers in place.
