The King Abdul Aziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), in partnership with the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALESCO) launched on Tuesday an initiative to discover and support Arab talent.
The initiative was launched under the patronage of Saudi Culture Minister Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan to invest in talented Arab youth.
The partnership was signed by Mawhiba’s Secretary-General Dr. Saud bin Saeed Al-Mutahmi and ALESCO Director General Dr. Mohamed Ould Omar via video conference.
According to the agreement, Mawhiba, which is an expert institution in the Arab world, will work on developing a standard for discovering Arab talents, taking into account the various cultural differences that exist across the Arab world.
The Talented Arab initiative aims to invest in young talented and creative Arabs, providing them with a suitable environment that nurtures their capabilities and empowers them to change the future.
ALECSO Director-General Muhammad Ould Omar thanked Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan for his support and sponsorship of the initiative, pointing out that the development of Arab talents’ capabilities reflects the Arabs’ interest in culture, an essential aspect of Arab identity.
He also emphasized the social and economic impact of promoting Arab culture, which is an absolute necessity to ensure a more prosperous future for the coming Arab generations.
Dr. Saud bin Saeed Al-Mutahmi, for his part, stressed that keeping pace with the current technological and informational landscapes set by the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the Corona pandemic requires nurturing Arab talents, so they can express their creativity in a free and unrestricted manner while highlighting the Arab nations’ presence on the world map.
He added that the agreement would strengthen partnerships with both profit and non-profit institutions in the Arab world while also allowing all interested parties from across the Arab world to participate in this project to spread the Arab culture and support Arab talent in the region.
