Mavericks have interest in Celtics free agent forward Marcus Morris

The Boston Celtics have had a wild offseason thus far as they have lost Kyrie Irving to the Brooklyn Nets and Al Horford to the Philadelphia 76ers while bringing in All-Star Kemba Walker and Enes Kanter to replace them.

With all of the upheaval after a disappointing finish to the season, there’s a chance the Celtics could lose another key piece of their team, Marcus Morris.

According to the Dallas Morning News’ Brad Townsend, the Mavericks have a lot of interest in the 29-year old combo forward. He had a solid season averaging 13.9 points and 6.1 rebounds while playing in 75 games with 53 starts in 2018-19.

The Mavericks are building their team around Rookie of the Year Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis so they now just need reliable role players to put around those two young stars. Morris filled a role around Irving and Horford in Boston so it’s easy to see the Mavericks interest in him.

The Celtics should probably bring him back as a guy who brings a gritty attitude and he would help the team in a variety of ways, but it appears that things are going in a different direction.
