Maverick Sabre wows The Wardrobe and Celeb Juice in one night

Maverick Sabre is so good, he can be in two places at once.

As the nation watched the singer charm Leeds-native Keith Lemon on ITV2 show Celebrity Juice, the English-Irish musician was wowing a sold-out crowd at The Wardrobe in Leeds.

On ITV2 Lemon was doing his best to make Sabre feel uncomfortable, at one point giving him a 'rude guitar' as a present, and in the process ruining The Proclaimers - 500 miles forever for anyone watching.

At The Wardrobe in central Leeds though, Sabre was comfortable and supremely confident in front of a lively crowd.

Within one song it was clear that Sabre is a polished performer - his singing was flawless, and he is very much the real deal.

His cherry-picking from a number of different genres (dub, R'nB, hip-hop, pop) meant that the crowd was constantly engaged, and covers of Usher, Khalid and Craig David had the crowd in raptures.

Sabre has collaborated with big names like Professor Green and Chase & Status, and performance of 'Slow Down', a collaboration with the highly rated Jorja Smith, was a highlight of the evening.

The singer-songwriter is touring in support of his new album When I Wake Up, and new tracks such as the blues-inspired 'Into Nirvana' might not have been as familiar to the crowd yet, but were very much well-received.

Sabre moved to Ireland at the age of four, before moving back to London to pursue his musical dream.

With three albums under his belt it is easy to forget Sabre is only 28, and with talent, and him having clearly earned respect from some of the most exciting artists around, it is easy to think that there are big things to come from him in the coming years.

In one of the breaks Sabre said: "It fills my heart with love. If you keep coming out, I'll keep performing." As one of many people who enjoyed the gig, we'll hold him to that.
