Maverick Carter recalls first time he and LeBron met Michael Jordan: ‘Black Jesus in the flesh’

With sports-loving people around the world tuning in to “The Last Dance” documentary about Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls during their last season in 1997-98, people who were fortunate enough to meet the man over the years are sharing their stories from over the years as fans are all getting to see a different side of the legend. One of those people who recalls the awe they had when they met Jordan was LeBron James’ friend and business partner Maverick Carter, telling the story on the UNINTERRUPTED after-show alongside Chris Paul and Paul Rivera.

Carter talked about him and LeBron seeing Jordan get out of his red convertible and floating as he walked, as he said, like seeing “Black Jesus in the flesh.” He also says that it was when LeBron was in high school, where James and Carter spoke to him for about 45 minutes.

Earlier this week, LeBron also talked about being moved nearly to tears when he watched this weekend’s episodes of “The Last Dance,” which included Jordan being overcome with emotion when he won his first championship in 1991.

But while LeBron and his close circle are trying to be gracious about Jordan, some others are using it as an excuse to stay with the cheap shots.
