PRAYAGRAJ: Condemning the statement of Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, purportedly in support of Gorakhnath temple attack accused Ahmed Murtaza, deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Thursday said the "relationship between SP and terrorists now stands exposed". Maurya was speaking in his home town Sirathu on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters in Kannauj on Wednesday, Yadav had said, "As per information, Murtaza's father said that he (Murtaza) has a psychiatric problem and bipolar disorder issues, I feel this should be looked at."
Maurya said, "Atankwadi ghatnayein karne wale log manorogi hi hote hain (People involved in terrorism or terrorist activities have psychiatric problems). If they don't have psychiatric problems, they would be working for the development of their family, state and country." Maurya further claimed that the incident of Murtaza attacking cops and trying to enter the Gorakhnath temple was being thoroughly investigated. "At a time when the law enforcement agencies are busy investigating the Gorakhnath temple attack, the statement of Akhilesh Yadav has exposed the links between the SP and terrorists," Maurya added.
Maurya also tweeted that law enforcement agencies will decide whether Murtaza was a terrorist or not. "Samajwadj Party will not decide it," he added.
Maurya said the SP chief's statement was for Muslim appeasement and made mockery of public security.
