Mauro Icardi could LEAVE Paris Saint-Germain and 'abandon football' as striker's clash with wife and agent goes nuclear

Mauro Icardi could reportedly walk away from Paris Saint-Germain and retire from football if he cannot reconcile with his wife and agent, Wanda.

The striker was given two days off for 'personal reasons' and didn't train with Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and co.

It soon emerged that he'd flown to Italy for showdown talks with his wife after an allegation of infidelity with an Argentine model.

And according to outlet El Trece, the former Inter striker is ready to take the nuclear option to win his wide back.

Wanda also acts as Icardi's agent, and was responsible for negotiating his €12million (£10m) contract with PSG.

It's claimed that the striker could unilaterally walk away from the deal, sparking a series of financial penalties.

Those would then allegedly fall to Wanda, whose name is on the contract.

However, Icardi is in the squad to face RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino explained: "Regarding Mauro Icardi and his personal problems, he could not train today, but he is in the group for tomorrow."

The striker's relationship with Wanda has been controversial from the start, as the pair got together while she was married to Icardi's Sampdoria team-mate Maxi Lopez.

She also works as a pundit on the Italian television show Tiki Taka, and regularly criticised her husband's team-mates during his time at Inter.

Icardi was then stripped of the club captaincy, causing him to sit out a series of matches as he stated he was injured, something the club denied.

He also clashed with the club's hardcore ultras, stating that he could "bring 100 criminals from Argentina to kill them where they stand".

A banner was then left outside his home urging the player to "let us know when your friends arrive".

Icardi was swiftly booted out by Antonio Conte when he took over at San Siro, joining PSG on an initial loan with an option to buy.

He's hit 36 goals in 73 games for the Ligue 1 giants, having managed 124 in 219 for Inter.
