Maurizio Sarri warns Chelsea against complacency after witnessing Man Utd and Ajax fightbacks

Maurizio Sarri has warned his Chelsea players not to relax when they travel to take on Dynamo Kiev in the Europa League next week because Manchester United showed that stunning European comebacks are possible.

Chelsea secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Kiev in their Europa League round of 16 first-leg tie at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night thanks to goals from Pedro, Willian and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The Blues could, in fact, have scored more goals on the night against a youthful Kiev team, but will still surely feel they already have one foot in the next round.

A day earlier, United overcame a 2-0 deficit to beat Paris Saint-Germain in their Champions League round of 16 second-leg clash in the French while, on Tuesday, Ajax knocked holders Real Madrid out of the competition 5-3 on aggregate.

And Sarri admits both examples remain a cautionary tale for Chelsea.

When asked how wary he was of Kiev pulling off a stunning upset in the second leg after witnessing Ajax and United's performances in the Champions League, Sarri replied: "Yes, of course.

"We need application otherwise, if you concede a goal, you can be mentally in trouble.

"We need to go there with a high level of attention."
