Maurizio Sarri ‘very happy’ at Chelsea but would have gladly stayed at Napoli, says father

Maurizio Sarri would have 'gladly' stayed at Napoli, according to his father.

The Italian left the Serie A side after a three year spell following a fallout with president Aurelio De Laurentiis last season.

Chelsea are undefeated since the former banker arrived in west London, four points off leaders Manchester City.

And while Sarri's father says he's more than happy in England, he could easily have stayed with his boyhood club.

“At school he cheered for Napoli because he was born there,” Amerigo Sarri told FirenzeViola.

“Naples remains in his heart and he would have gladly stayed to coach Napoli, but unfortunately something happened with the president, I don’t know.

“In any case, he’s very happy in England [with Chelsea].

“I went to see him a fortnight ago and for the first time I saw one of his matches. He’s very happy in England, and he’s always been able to speak English."
