Maurizio Sarri to speak to Eden Hazard 'as a father' over his Chelsea future

Maurizio Sarri has admitted that he doesn't know if he is able to convince Eden Hazard to stay with Chelsea but that he will talk to the Belgian 'as a father'.

The 28-year-old is being linked with a move to Real Madrid once again this summer, however with his contact only having one year left and no new deal likely to be signed then his time at Stamford Bridge is coming to an end.

Hazard joined Chelsea in 2012 in the hope that he could clinch the Champions League with the then winners, being the Blues, however that has not come to fruition.

Sarri's side are in the Champions League next season and have the Europa League final to look forward to at the end of the month, but the Italian admits he doesn't know if that will be enough to convince Hazard to stay.

'Pathetic, disgusting' - These Arsenal and Chelsea fans can't believe what Uefa have done

"I don’t know, I don’t know," Sarri said. "If Hazard is thinking that the history here is finished, then in his mind it is finished.

"I can try to speak to him but it is not easy. It’s not easy because of course I want Hazard, but I want Hazard with a very high level of motivation.

"As you know you have to ask the club because I am not in control of the market. I am not in charge of the renewal of the contract so I am not able to answer.

"I can only speak to the player but like a father, not like a manager.

"It’s a discussion between a father and a son."

In quite fitting fashion, Hazard netted the winning penalty last night in the Europa League semi-final shootout win over Eintracht Frankfurt at Stamford Bridge.

The Belgian potentially has two matches left as a Chelsea player, but he insists that he is not thinking about his future but merely Leicester City and then

"I’m not thinking about [whether it’s my last game or not]. I’m only thinking about winning something for this club and for this squad.

"If it’s [the final] my last game, I will try to do everything. If it’s not, [then] we will see. In my mind I don’t know yet, so I’m just thinking to win games and that’s it."
