Maurizio Sarri issues N'Golo Kante injury update ahead of Europa League final vs Arsenal

Chelsea are preparing for the Europa League final against Arsenal.

The two London sides will do battle in Baku on Wednesday night for European silverware and, for Arsenal, a place in the Champions League next season if they win it.

The big question, as far as Chelsea are concerned, ahead of kick-off, is whether or not midfielder N'Golo Kante will be fit to play.

Kante had picked up a knee injury in training on Saturday, and there were major doubts over whether he would even travel to the Azerbaijan capital or not.

The diminutive Frenchman did travel to raise hopes that he would be fit to play some part in the final, but manager Maurizio Sarri has delivered a further update on the injury.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference, Sarri said: "I don’t know. He had a little problem in his knee on Saturday. We are trying. It is not serious but it is the problem of three or four days. We will try, but right now we don’t know.

"He is 50/50, yesterday 60/40 for no, but now 50/50. He was a little better this morning.

"We are in trouble with the midfielders. We have only three midfielders for three positions. We are in trouble. N’Golo is very important. He is the only defensive midfielder that we have. We will try to recover him. N’Golo for us, it is a problem."
