Maurizio Sarri hit with £8,000 FA fine after accepting misconduct charge

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has been fined 8,000 pounds by the Football Association after accepting a misconduct charge

It comes after he was dismissed by referee Kevin Friend during Monday night's 2-2 Premier League draw against Burnley .

The Italian was sent to the stands in stoppage time after losing his cool during the closing moments of a heated clash at Stamford Bridge.

The FA confirmed the sanction in a statement on Thursday, stating that the 60-year-old had admitted the charge and "accepted the standard penalty".

Sarri's assistant, Gianfranco Zola, said Burnley's backroom staff had "offended" Sarri.

"I think there will be a follow-up on that. Maurizio felt very unhappy," Zola said after the match.

"We understand it's a football game. You say words because of the adrenaline, but he wasn't particularly happy."

Sarri did not take part in the post-match media press conference, with Zola stepping in.

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger and Burnley goalkeeping coach Billy Mercer had to be separated by the officials at the final whistle before David Luiz and Ashley Westwood also clashed as the teams left the field.

The clubs will face no further action over that incident.

Burnley tweeted: "Issues arising between both benches during Monday night’s Premier League match at Chelsea have been resolved between the coaches and clubs, and a line has been drawn under the matter."
