Maurizio Sarri explains his Chelsea team selection for Europa League semi-final with Frankfurt

Maurizio Sarri admits he would have made more changes to his Chelsea side if he could have for their Europa League semi-final with Chelsea.

The Chelsea boss has made three changes to his side, with Olivier Giroud starting up front for the Blues, who also name Eden Hazard in the side after he was on the bench for the first leg last week in Germany.

But with N'Golo Kante ruled out through injury, along with Antonio Rudiger and Callum Hudson-Odoi, Sarri admitted he did not have too many other options to change.

"We wanted to change more, but at the moment we have only 16 players and three goalkeepers. So we changed only three players from the last match," he said, speaking to BT Sport ahead of the game.

'Tears in my eyes' Chelsea fans have the same reaction to Eden Hazard team news

"I think after 60 matches, it is more important the mind than legs. "

But he did have a warning for his side ahead of the second leg, with the tie poised at 1-1.

"We need to be careful, they are a dangerous team, dynamic and aggressive in the defensive phases and dangerous in offensive phases, particularly in counter attacks, so we have to be careful.

"I want my team in control of the match, but with the right positions, otherwise we can be in trouble."

Meanwhile, former Chelsea boss Glenn Hoddle said he felt this was the strongest team Sarri could have picked for the game, given the injuries within the squad, but he warned that Frankfurt would be dangerous opponents.

Sarri was also asked how he felt ahead of the game by BT Sport's Paul Dempsey, with the Italian responding: "At the moment, well, we will see after the match."
