Maurizio Sarri breaks Premier League record as Chelsea extend unbeaten start to 12 games

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has broken the record for the longest unbeaten run at the start of a Premier League managerial career after Sunday's 0-0 draw with Everton.

Sarri has now avoided defeat in each of his first 12 league games at the club, a run that has included fixtures against three of the other 'Big Six', in Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United.

The previous bench mark of 11 was set by Nottingham Forest boss Frank Clark at the start of the 1994-95 season. On that occasion, Forest went on a poor run of nine defeats in their next 18 games, before recovering to end the season with another unbeaten streak, this time of 13 games, to finish third.

Chelsea are also the only side in Europe's top five divisions yet to lose a game in any competition, following Juventus' Champions League defeat against Manchester United in midweek.

Sarri's streak looks set to face one of its toughest tests yet, when Chelsea visit Tottenham in a London derby immediately after the international break.
