Maurizio Mastrini, a very original pianist and composer from Italy, will give a Bangkok debut recital in the Music Hall of Chulalongkorn University, Phaya Thai Road, on Saturday at 7pm.
Organised by the Embassy of Italy, this is the first chance for local audiences to witness the original piano technique with which Maurizio delighted fans around the world. Called Wild Heart for his solitary nature, he will perform from W La Vita, his latest successful work, in which you can hear the cheerful yet melancholic notes of the island of Cuba.
Released last year, it is his eighth album and is comprised of 10 tracks that take listeners on a journey into the emotions and states of being of the human soul: love, passion, nostalgia, disenchantment, tenderness, fantasy and lightness.
Hailed as one of the major pianists and most original composers in the international music and instrumental scene, the former "enfant prodige" was a pupil of maestro Vincenzo Vitale. He began an extremely fast pianistic path that soon brought him the stages of important Italian theatres.
The undisputed technical skills that send audiences into raptures at every performance make him a genuine landmark on the Italian and international music scenes. He's given over 480 concerts around the world.
