Mauricio Pochettino 'very happy' at Tottenham but has not 'missed the train' with Real Madrid

Mauricio Pochettino is "very happy at Tottenham" but insists he has not "missed the train" with Real Madrid.

Real Madrid had hoped to appoint Pochettino last summer following Zinedine Zidane's shock resignation and was understood to again be a target 12 months on after struggles under Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari before the Frenchman made an equally surprising return last week.

Pochettino had recently signed a new five-year deal at Tottenham and underlined his happiness at the club, with the project and the imminent opening of their new 62,062-seater stadium.

Speaking in Barcelona at the Mediterranean International Cup, of which he is an ambassador, Pochettino told Mundo Deportivo: “I don’t have the feeling that I missed the Madrid train. I don’t look at the long term, I’m happy and I still have four years left on my contract.”
