Mauricio Pochettino 'to put mannequin with his face' on Tottenham touchline during ban

Mauricio Pochettino has joked that he will place a mannequin with a photo of his face on the Tottenham bench during his touchline ban.

Pochettino has been handed a two-game suspension, and £10,000 fine, for confronting referee Mike Dean after the defeat at Burnley last month.

The manager has described his "shock" at the severity of the punishment, with some at Spurs understood to consider the FA guilty of double-standards.

In the meantime, with Pochettino hinting at an appeal, Pochettino has a clever way to make his presence felt on the touchline.

"I trust in [assistant Jesus Perez] and his decisions," he said. "We can communicate.

"I'm going to put a mannequin with my face on the bench, so the players say 'the gaffer’s there'.

"I'm allowed to go to the changing room and everything; I’m just not allowed to be sitting on the bench. It’s so strange.

"I'm going to behave. You know during the game how I am on the touchline, I am so relaxed. I’m not going to change because I am in the stand.

"I try to be focused on what is going on in the game, to help the team with our decisions."
