Mauricio Pochettino to Man Utd can trigger domino effect to help Chelsea complete £60m transfer

Chelsea could finally sign Achraf Hakimi if Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino chooses to join Manchester United.

United sacked head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sunday morning after the Norwegian's side were defeated 4-1 by newly-promoted Watford over the weekend - sparking a plethora of reports linking Pochettino to succeed the former Cardiff chief.

Now, our sister title Manchester Evening News have reported that the Red Devils are 'confident' of appointing the former Tottenham Hotspur manager, who is said to be willing to leave PSG mid-season given his willingness to make the move to Old Trafford.

If the Argentine is to join United in the coming weeks, then perhaps Chelsea would be handed a boost in their pursuit of defender Hakimi - who chose the Parc des Princes over Stamford Bridge over the summer.

The former Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid wingback admitted that he decided to join the French giants given his admiration for Pochettino but perhaps the Blues could use the uncertainty surrounding his future to make a move for the Morrocan international.

"When I got offers from PSG and Chelsea, I felt I had to come to Paris, where I would be happy", Hakimi told L’Equipe over the summer.

"Pochettino also played an important role in my decision. I like his style, he has the ball and always thinks of the attack.

"He wanted me at Tottenham too."

The 23-year-old, who joined PSG for a reported £60million, has enjoyed a productive start to his career with the League 1 side, netting three goals and providing a further two assists in the league already this term.
