Mauricio Pochettino to Man United: Former Tottenham boss tipped to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Where will Mauricio Pochettino go next?

The Argentinian's largely successful five years at Tottenham came to an end in November, following a poor start to the 2019/20 season.

Pochettino was sacked by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and replaced by Jose Mourinho.

He had been linked with a number of other jobs while he was at Spurs, but never moved on, staying loyal to the north London club in the face of strong interest from the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United.

Now he is sure to have his pick of next jobs now he is out of work.

So what does the future hold?

Here we take a look at all the latest news around the former Tottenham boss.

The speculation around Mauricio Pochettino's next job is only going to intensify the closer we get to the end of the season.

Pochettino has been out of work since being sacked by Tottenham in November, but he will have no shortage of suitors given his impressive five years at the helm in N17.

Manchester United have long been tipped to be the Argentinian's next destination and that talk is going to be ramped up after he was pictured with Manchester United's PR advisor Neil Ashton at Brentford's Championship clash with Leeds United.

What Pochettino has said

So where will Pochettino end up next?

If it was up to him it would be somewhere in the Premier League. There have been links with the likes of Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, but it is England where Pochettino wants to stay.

"To be honest, I would love to work in the Premier League. It's going to be difficult, I know, and for now it's a moment to wait and we'll see what happens," he told the In The Pink Podcast.

"It's a moment of recovery, to think about yourself a little bit, and to be ready because in football always something can happen and you need to be ready."

Next job odds

Manchester United are the overwhelming favourites to Be Pochettino's next position.

According to Sky Bet, Pochettino is the 1/2 odds-on favourite to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford.

No other club comes close, with Barcelona labelled up at 6/1 second favourites. However, that will not happen, given that Pochettino has previously said he would never manage the Catalan club because of his history with Barca's local rivals Espanyol.

Real Madrid are priced up at 8/1, with Bayern Munich at 9/1 and Manchester City at 10/1.

No to Barcelona or Arsenal

As mentioned above, Pochettino will not become manager at Barcelona, or Arsenal for that matter.

That is out of loyalty to Espanyol and Tottenham.

Here's what he has said in the past: ""I would never train Barcelona or Arsenal because I am tied to Tottenham. I grew up at Newell's and I would never train Rosario Central.

"This is my decision. I would prefer to work on my farm in Argentina than to go and work in certain places."
