Mauricio Pochettino should succeed Marcelo Bielsa as Leeds United manager, according to former Whites goalkeeper Paul Robinson.
Pochettino has been without a club for over a year following his sacking by Tottenham Hotspur in November 2019.
The 48-year-old has previously been linked with Manchester United, when manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was struggling and recently Real Madrid, whose boss Zinedine Zidane is under pressure.
The Argentinian is reportedly ready for another job and is thought to be keen on another role in the Premier League, having already taken charge of Southampton and Spurs.
Robinson believes Leeds could be the perfect fit, with Pochettino taking over the reins from compatriot Bielsa once he is ready to step down.
"I'd love to see him at Leeds. I'd absolutely love to see him being Marcelo Bielsa's successor,” he told Ladbrokes, as quoted by The Mirror.
"I can't see Poch hanging around and waiting for Bielsa to decide that he's going to retire, or move on.
"But we've heard about Pep Guardiola and Pochettino talk about Bielsa - they hold him in such high esteem and high regard.
"Apprentice taking over from the master would seem like a natural progression. That's fantasy football talk and what you'd like to see for your hometown team and I can't really see it happening but I'd love it."
Bielsa is unlikely to be considering his departure any time soon, having worked hard to return Leeds to the Premier League for the first time in 16 years.
His side are making a good impression in the top flight, with Leeds in 12th place, with 14 points from their opening 10 games.
They face a tough test this weekend, visiting Stamford Bridge on Saturday to play third-placed Chelsea in an 8pm kick-off.
Frank Lampard’s side are unbeaten in their last 12 games across all competitions and have lost just once in the league so far this season.
