Mauricio Pochettino tells Spurs fans exactly what they want to hear over Tanguy Ndombele

Fans of Tottenham Hotspur have been told to wait and see how good Tanguy Ndombele really is by manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The club record signing, who arrived from Lyon earlier this summer, came off the bench in a 3-2 win over Juventus in Singapore and created the equaliser for Lucas Moura moments after his introduction.

Harry Kane struck home the winner in injury time to see Spurs get their pre-season tour off to a winning start against the Italian champions.

Speaking after the match, Pochettino hailed Ndombele's qualities but also warned supporters to be patient as he gets to grips with the Premier League.

"Yes of course I am happy but we cannot expect from him too much," said the Argentinian.

"He’s only just had the possibility to get to know his team-mates, to adapt himself to the new countries, new culture, new players, new games, new tempo.

"All is new for him, but I think with the first touch of the ball he started to show the quality from him."

For Pochettino to be preaching caution following such an exciting first look for Spurs fans hints at even greater things to come.

"It was amazing and you can see when he runs something can happen," said Pochettino.

"He has the capacity to add to the team different things and I hope during the season he can help the team achieve all that they want."

Tottenham sold Mousa Dembele in the January transfer window and have been missing a midfielder to take command through the centre of their team.

It is hoped that Ndombele will prove himself to not only be a worthy heir to the Belgian but an upgrade in some respects, especially when it comes to making things happen in the final third.

"He is a player that has the capacity to do what he did today," added Pochettino. "But still it's too far away in his adaptation.

"Our plan was to play him for only 15 minutes, but with the tempo in the second half it was good to give him 30 minutes."
