Here is your Tottenham morning digest for Wednesday, May 27.

Mourinho contradicts Pochettino to give youngster game time

Spurs prospect Japhet Tanganga has impressed after breaking into the first team this season.

The promising defender has featured six times in the Premier League this season as well as the second leg of the Champions League loss to RB Leipzig.

But things might have turned out so different had Mauricio Pochetino still been in charge.

After handing the 21-year-old his senior debut in the League Cup defeat to Colchester, the former boss suggested it may take time for Tanganga to get regular game time.

Spurs stars open up about life under Jose

Mourinho’s appointment in November was greeted with a very mixed reaction from Spurs supporters.

Many were unhappy to see Pochettino sacked after everything he had achieved with the club, and equally, Mourinho’s recent record was particularly inspiring.

However, despite an indifferent start so far, there is certainly a belief within the club that the Portuguese manager is the right man for the job.

Similarly, the players seem to have taken to the ex-Chelsea, Manchester United and Madrid manager, speaking of him in positive terms.

This is what the players have had to say about their boss.

Former Spurs midfielder reveals Redknapp clash that led to exit

Ex-Tottenham winger Steven Pienaar has opened up about his time in North London and his relationship with Harry Redknapp.

Joining the club in the winter of 2011, the South African wouldn’t really get going at White Hart Lane in an injury hit spell.

Even when fit, Pienaar would struggle to break into the first team and after a year, would return to Everton on loan.

Speaking to The Athletic, Pienaar revealed how he told Redknapp he wanted out.

"Harry wouldn’t let me go, so I said: “If you won’t let me go, I’ll just go to South Africa for the rest of the season and you can fine me all you like. I just want to play football and not be a number.”

"Eventually, he gave in. I’d packed my suitcase and I went straight back to Liverpool that night."
