Over two months into Ralf Rangnick's Manchester United reign and we're yet to see a glimpse of the magic wand some fans thought the interim boss would wave over Old Trafford to immediately fix the club's problems.
United have yet to win three consecutive games this season and find themselves out of the top four in the race for a Champions League place.
It's expected that Rangnick will take up a consultancy role in the summer as United look to appoint a permanent boss, and one of the names to have been heavily linked with the position ever since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's departure last November is Mauricio Pochettino.
The Manchester Evening News understands there is growing support among Manchester United players for Pochettino to become the next manager.
Of course, player power is a massive part of modern-day football, but if Pochettino does move to United then it could be bad news for one of the club's biggest stars.
Cristiano Ronaldo's performances have been criticised of late. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has scored some crucial goals since returning to Old Trafford, but when he's not scoring goals there's a real debate over whether he offers enough to the team to warrant a place in the starting XI.
Ronaldo hasn't found the back of the net since United's 3-1 win against Burnley back in December and there's a real belief among the United fanbase that Edinson Cavani's tireless work ethic should be enough to see him given the nod up top.
As per FBref , Ronaldo has averaged just 6.31 pressures per 90 this season and only 1.95 of those have been successful. If Ronaldo is to convince United fans that he is worthy of a place in the team even when he's not scoring goals, he needs to show another side to his game.
One look at Pochettino's time with Paris Saint-Germain will tell you he might not be the man to convince him to do just that.
Pochettino has struggled to bring his high-pressing system to PSG, with the Ligue 1 side's forward line rarely looking interested whenever they aren't in possession.
Lionel Messi may be one of the greatest footballers ever but his displays since moving to the French capital haven't exactly been typical of a forward in a Pochettino team. This season, the Argentina international has averaged just 9.08 pressures per 90 and only 2.29 have been successful.
Messi is a little younger than Ronaldo but the pair are both at similar points in their respective careers. They are celebrities just as much as they are footballers (that's true whether you like it or not) and because of that their every move is scrutinised.
If they're not scoring goals and they're not helping the team out in other ways then fans will be quick to criticise.
Pochettino looks to be having similar problems with Messi as Rangnick is having with Ronaldo, and so it's hard to argue that Pochettino is the man to get the best out of United's number seven.
Say what you like about Ronaldo, if United are to be successful then they need to get the best out of their main man. Whether Pochettino is the manager to do that or not remains to be seen.
