Mauricio Pochettino's Jack Clarke headache and how Spurs' other loanees are getting on so far

A number of Spurs youngsters will be hoping to force their way into Mauricio Pochettino's plans next summer by excelling during their respective loan spells away from N17.

Seven of the club's players have made the temporary move away from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to pick up some vital experience of playing first-team football week in, week out, including summer signing Jack Clarke.

Making a huge impression in the Championship for Leeds United last campaign, the winger returned to Elland Road in the summer to continue his development before returning to the capital for the 2020/21 season.

Here's how Clarke and the club's other players got on at their new clubs at the weekend:

Jack Clarke

It was another weekend to forget for the York-born star as he wasn't named in Marcelo Bielsa's squad for the late defeat against Swansea City.

Clarke had in fact played in the days leading up to the game as the West Yorkshire side crashed out of the Carabao Cup against Stoke City on penalties.

The 18-year-old started against the Potters but was hooked off at the break after a poor showing.

Our colleagues at Leeds Live rated the players during the cup game and the youngster recorded a score of four for his display.

"Anonymous and on the edge of things," wrote Beren Cross. "Did link-up well before setting up Eddie Nketiah for the best chance of the first half, but nowhere near enough end product for a player in his position attacking the final third."

Clarke needs to take his chance in the team when it comes this season due to the rule regarding loan players.

Jack Clarke

Leeds currently have six loan players on their books but only five can be named in a matchday squad, thus seeing Clarke miss out on selection in recent weeks.

As football.london revealed last month, Tottenham do have a recall option to bring back Clarke in January if they believe the loan spell isn't working out for the youngster.

Luke Amos

The midfielder has made a decent start to his loan spell at QPR after his injury troubles during the 2018/19 season.

Amos has so far appeared in five games for the west London club, with his last appearance against Swansea seeing him come off with a hamstring injury in the first half.

The youngster missed the following game against Wigan Athletic and he was also absent for the Carabao Cup defeat against Portsmouth and Saturday's win over Sheffield Wednesday.

Manager Mark Warburton is not expecting the player to be out for too long and he should make his return after the international break.

Cameron Carter-Vickers

It has not been a good start to life at Stoke City for Carter-Vickers.

The defender has only made three appearances for the Potters so far and he wasn't even selected in the 18-man squad for Saturday's defeat at Birmingham City.

The player watched the loss from the away end as he and a couple of his teammates decided to sit with the crowd.

Kazaiah Sterling

Setting up his team's winner against Lincoln City the previous week after coming off the bench, the striker was not involved on Saturday as Doncaster were due to play Bury.

The Lancashire side's expulsion from the EFL last week meant that Rovers had a rare weekend off as the other 22 teams in the league played.

Sterling could be involved in the Football League Trophy on Tuesday evening against Lincoln.

Anthony Georgiou

Georgiou got some more Football League experience under his belt with another cameo from the bench for League One table-toppers Ipswich.

Paul Lambert sent the 22-year-old on in the 66th minute as the Tractor Boys sealed a 3-0 home win over Shrewsbury Town at Portman Road.

George Marsh

Marsh made his debut for Leyton Orient at the weekend having been an unused substitute in their previous two games.

The midfielder was once again on the bench but he came on in the 84th minute in the 1-1 draw against Salford City.

Marsh will be hoping for more time on the pitch either this evening in the Football League Trophy against Southend United or in Saturday's league game at home to Swindon Town.

Jack Roles

Starting in the 6-0 humbling against Swansea in the Carabao Cup last Wednesday, Roles was dropped down to the bench for Cambridge's 1-0 defeat away at Port Vale.

The 20-year-old came on in the 65th minute and picked up a booking during his 25 minutes on the pitch.
