Mauricio Pochettino has spoken out about Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min.
Last weekend, the South Korea international was shown a straight red card for a challenge on Andre Gomes which left the Toffees midfielder with a fractured dislocation to his right ankle and will have surgery today.
Spurs appealed the decision which was overturned, meaning Son will be available to face Sheffield United this weekend.
But it was clear that Son was visibly shaken up by the incident.
And Pochettino has revealed how the forward coped with all the extra attention.
"He was affected like everyone, during the game and after the game, it is difficult to see how a player is suffering a massive injury," Pochettino told reporetrs. "He was involved, there was a bit of confusion in the action, with the decision to show the red card.
"He felt responsible then when we concede with ten men. But he wasn't guilty for the injury, and he showed that he is in a good state and mental level.
"Of course he is sorry about Andre, like everyone, but relieved with the message from Andre on social media, which was good and positive.
"And Son is now training and recovering well."
Son scored twice for Spurs against Red Star in midweek and dedicated one of his goals to Andre Gomes.
Speaking after the game he sent a message to the Everton midfielder.
"It was a really, really tough few days but with our teammates, I realised how lucky I am, the supporters and the fans, everyone gave me such strong messages," he told BT Sport.
"Of course, I feel really, really sorry for this accident and this situation but I wanted to focus for the team as well, respect this football and to keep going, working hard, I think this is the right answer to all the people that support me."
