Mauricio Pochettino reveals details of his meeting with Christian Eriksen and the Spurs players

Mauricio Pochettino has his squad back together after the international break this week.

And the Spurs boss has revealed that he held a meeting with all of them on their return to Hotspur Way.

Tottenham face Crystal Palace at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday afternoon, hoping to get back to winning ways, having not won since the opening day of the season.

It will be the first game of the new campaign without transfer rumours flying around, with the European transfer window closing after the draw with Arsenal in the North London Derby two weeks ago.

Christian Eriksen had been the one who looked most likely to leave, with only a year left on his current Spurs contract, but no offers were forthcoming and he has stayed put.

During his press conference ahead of the match with the Eagles, Pochettino was asked about Eriksen and his state of mind.

Pochettino said: "He’s happy. He was always happy. He never said he wasn’t happy here. Everyone of course has aims, goals, challenges. I told you before the Arsenal game he was in his right mind and that’s why I played him.

"Always he was an important player for us. In our sixth season, we’ve always appreciated him a lot. His qualities are there and important for the team. He’s happy and if we believe he deserves to play then he’s going to play.

"It’s not because he has less than one year on his contract that we’re going to take a different decision. All decisions are based on performance."

And Pochettino confirmed he had held a meeting with his squad upon their return to training on Thursday.

He added: "Now, for sure, it was so important to be refocused. The conversation today altogether now is the squad we are going to have until January, when the rumours will appear again and different situation.

"It was very good to talk today for nearly one hour and refocus again on our objective. To be clear in our minds, to think that the most important thing is the collective and start to put outside individual situations, all together again and try to create a dynamic and be strong and starting winning games.

"That’s the most important thing for us now."
