Mauricio Pochettino makes U-turn amid claims of Barcelona talks with former Tottenham boss

Barcelona are seemingly on the hunt for a new manager with reports swiftly emerging that Quique Setien has been relieved of his duties following the disastrous 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich.

The quarter-final exit in the Champions League seems to have left the writing on the wall at the Nou Camp, as they continue to look for the stability they have lacked since Luis Enrique departed three years ago.

Mauricio Pochettino has repeatedly been linked with a move to the Nou Camp but previously suggested he would not make such a more due to his past with Barcelona's Catalan rivals Espanyol.

However, with Espanyol suffering relegation to the second-tier, Pochettino recently made a u-turn with his statement to suggest he would consider the move.

"I was in Barcelona that year and I met Bartomeu in a bar. We said hello because we were taking our children to the same school and we were chatting for five minutes," he told Spanish outlet El Pais.

"That generated a rumour that set off alarms because there were more teams that wanted us, and when they asked me, I wanted to settle it drastically; I did not want to disrespect Barcelona.

"Things can be said differently. Espanyol has made a name for me.

"But I'm not arrogant and I didn't like making a statement like that.

"Maybe now I wouldn't because you never know what will happen in life."
