Mauricio Pochettino makes Tottenham pledge after clear-the-air talks with Daniel Levy

Mauricio Pochettino has pledged his long term future to Tottenham after a clear-the-air dinner date with Daniel Levy.

Pochettino also revealed he has turned down “plenty” of job offers during his five years at White Hart Lane to underline his commitment to Spurs despite voicing his dissatisfaction about summer transfer business.

Tottenham boss Pochettino went on the front foot in a move to dismiss growing rumours about his future which saw two bookmakers suspend betting on him being the next manager to leave his job.

Pochettino, who has been targeted by Real Madrid and Manchester United during his time at Spurs, said: “We had dinner, it was a very good exercise to have better communication, to make things clear.

"It was good to listen to Daniel that we are on the same page, that is the most important thing.

“Of course if you analyse last season, we need to improve in the Premier League this season. It’s going to be tough.

"In the last part of last season we went a little bit down but we kept the season alive and the perception was good because we progressed in the Champions League.

“But now we need to try to push again. That is why we need to be on the same page - the club, Daniel and us in our vision and plans for the future.

"I only tried to explain the situation, it is because I care about the club and Daniel and our personal relationship.

“Yes (I’ve had) plenty (of offers). Plenty in five years and Daniel knows. Some, not all! From everywhere. Daniel knows very well how our commitment with the club is.

“We are in the business of football and we know there will be rumours.

"But, for me, to walk away after the North London derby? I’m going to walk away? What a stupid rumour.”
