Mauricio Pochettino makes shock admission about the importance of Man City Champions League tie

Tottenham secured their third win in a row at the new stadium with victory over Huddersfield this afternoon (Saturday) to go along with victories over Crystal Palace and Manchester City.

That win over Man City in the Champions League has given Spurs the advantage as they attempt to reach the semi-finals of Europe's biggest tournament.

However, speaking to Sky Sports after the win over Huddersfield, Mauricio Pochettino did not appear particularly interested in the possibility of advancing in the Champions League.

Mauricio Pochettino names the two characteristics that can help Spurs win the top-four battle

Tottenham will face Man City at the Etihad on Wednesday in the second leg of their Champions League quarter final tie.

Pochetttino's side hold a 1-0 lead going into the game after Son Heung-Min's goal in front of the south stand last Tuesday night.

But despite being in the driving seat in the tie Pochettino says the Champions League is not that important, even if playing in it is very enjoyable.

He said: "For us, it’s a bonus for us to be in the Champions League. Maybe people disagree with me.

"We beat Manchester City 1-0 and it was a very tough game but for me they are one of the best teams in the world and they are still the clear favourites to win the Champions League and the Premier League.

"For us it is a bonus. We are going to be there trying to enjoy it, trying to do our job. I’m not thinking too much, we need to feel free and enjoy it because for us it is a bonus.

Pochettino press conference: Every word on Alli & Winks injuries, Lucas Moura & top-four battle

"City are building to win this type of trophy. We are now in a position that we are enjoying but our concern is to give our best and to win, because we are ambitious, but for us it’s without pressure because it is a bonus.

"We know that we are going to play with one of the best teams in the world, with the best manager in the world, the best coaching staff, and we need to enjoy it."

Spurs player ratings: Sissoko magnificent, Lucas superb & Llorente impressive in comfortable win
