Mauricio Pochettino wishes to leave Paris Saint-Germain after heavy speculation he could be returning to Tottenham.
football.london understands that Pochettino informed the PSG hierarchy of his desire to leave the club late last week after less than six months in charge at the Parc des Princes.
However, the situation remains very much the same as we reported recently, with Spurs still having a tough job to lure him away from the Paris-based outfit this summer.
But there is also a real desire for Pochettino to return to Tottenham and complete his unfinished business after being replaced by Jose Mourinho in late-2019.
The former Spurs boss was linked with a move to Real Madrid, but the Spanish giants have just appointed Carlo Ancelotti as their new head coach.
Pochettino has spoken in the past about one day returning to N17 and definitely did not rule out the proposition.
"It was an amazing journey that finished the way no one wanted it to finish," he told BT Sport (via Sky Sports).
"But deep in my heart, I am sure our paths will cross again. From the day I left the club, my dream is to be back one day and to try to finish the work we didn't finish. We were so closing to winning the Premier League and Champions League.
"But of course I am looking forward to moving on and I am so motivated for the next project.
"But deep inside I want to go back because the fans are so special. Maybe in five years, maybe in 10 years, but before I die I want to manage Tottenham.
"I want to feel what it means to win one title with Tottenham because the fans are amazing, all the love we received was amazing and that is a good opportunity to pay back all the love they showed us from day one."
