Mauricio Pochettino issues Spurs injury update ahead of Champions League final

Tottenham are facing plenty of injury headaches with the Champions League final around the corner - but Mauricio Pochettino is confident their three-week break can do the trick.

Jan Vertonghen, Harry Kane (both ankle) and Harry Winks (groin) are all struggling ahead of their clash with Liverpool on June 1.

Vertonghen left their semi-final win over Ajax on crutches wearing a protective boot, whilst Kane's season initially looked over when he damaged his ankle in the quarter-final first leg against Manchester City .

The Belgian defender sat out their final game of the Premier League season against Everton , with Winks also sidelined.

Victor Wanyama, meanwhile, returned from a thigh problem to play against the Toffees meaning he is set to be fit to feature in the Spanish capital.

How Arsenal can create nightmare Champions League scenario for Tottenham

Pochettino has given his players a two-day rest period, less than the five-day break given to Jurgen Klopp before a training camp in Spain.

But he says Spurs will monitor each player individually with the view to being in peak condition in the biggest game in their history.

Mauricio Pochettino AGAIN hints at Tottenham exit with remark about his legacy

Pochettino said: “I hope to have all the squad available but if someone is not available then it’s about the team.

“We need to be natural, to apply common sense.

“It is not a pre-season but it is not going to be a holiday. We are going to assess each individual and give more individual work than collective.”
