Mauricio Pochettino gives Kyle Walker handball verdict after Man City beat Tottenham Hotspur

Mauricio Pochettino says he has no compalints about Tottenham Hotspur's defeat against Manchester City - despite Kyle Walker appearing to handle the ball in City's penalty area in the second half.

The Blues secured three vital points in the race for the Premier League table after Phil Foden's first league goal served to banish the memory of Wednesday night's Champions League quarter-final defeat by Spurs at the Etihad after just five minutes.

Ederson was key to City's 25th home win in all competitions this season, with the Brazil international denying Heung-Min Son and Christian Eriksen with smart stops during the first half.

Bernardo Silva was denied a gilt-edged penalty after being felled by Spurs' Jan Vertonghen before Walker appeared to knock Dele Alli's header out of play with his arm as Spurs hunted an equaliser.

Referee Michael Oliver waved away Tottenham's protestations, and Pochettino says he has no regrets after City inflicted a damaging blow in Spurs' hunt for a top-four finish.

"I’m not going to complain," he said. "I try to be fair in my comments.

"The referee was in a good position, I think it was a clear handball but I accept the decision not to give a penalty."

Spurs halted City's progression in the Champions League at the quarter-final stage for the second-consecutive season, with the Blues dumped out on away goals after Raheem Sterling's would-be winner was chalked off by the Video Assistant Referee for offside in injury times.

But City showed no signs of scarring and staved off Spurs' growing second-half threat to secure a platform for Wednesday night's Manchester Derby.

And Guardiola was delighted with his side's response.

"I’ve not done anything," the City boss said. "I’ve told my players that if they’ve forgotten what happened it’s good but if it still hurts then it’s good.

"Those 10 seconds of joy and happiness to devastation. That kind of experience has given us emotions we wouldn't have had. Today our fans were incredible.

"We give absolutely everything."
