Mauricio Pochettino explains why new stadium will give Spurs edge over Man City

Mauricio Pochettino feels the fact that New Tottenham stadium: 5 things we noticed from craft beer to comfortable toilets can swing things in their favour in the Champions League.

The manager watched the club's young stars cut the ribbon in a ramp-up event on Sunday.

The Spurs boss says it was an emotional experience seeing a ball kicked at the much-delayed new ground for the first time.

The first official game will be against Crystal Palace on April 3 - but the one match fans can't wait for is the visit of Manchester City .

Pochettino thinks playing the Champions League tie at their new home and not Wembley will work in the north London club's favour - and fan power can see them through.

“My feeling is unbelievable, it is so difficult to explain in only a few words," he said after watching their U18's beat Southampton 3-1.

“I think I felt the same when we left the last day White Hart Lane. We left crying, now here we feel the same emotion, our dream becomes true and we need to say thank you to Daniel Levy because in 2001 when he started to believe in that dream he made possible for it to be here.

“It is a lot of people who worked so tough to make this dream a reality, for us. Thank you so much to the fans for being patient.

“We are in a good place in the Premier League, and we have a tough draw in the Champions League, I think with all 62,000 people we can make possible our dream to be in the semi-final, why not. We believe.”

Tottenham's top brass fear Manchester United are still interested in Pochettino – this despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s incredible impact at Old Trafford.

Chairman Daniel Levy is concerned the absence of any word from United about next season means Pochettino may still be a target.

It would cost around £50m to free Pochettino from his Spurs contract after signing a five-year deal last May.

Spurs play Liverpool at Anfield next Sunday, before returning to north London for the first time in a year-and-a-half when they face Palace.
