Mauricio Pochettino drops major hint about his Tottenham future

Boss Mauricio Pochettino has dropped a major hint he is ready to stay at Spurs after telling his players it’s time to “touch glory” in the Champions League final on Saturday.

The Argentine worried some fans when he claimed earlier this month that he might quit if his side won the continent’s biggest cup competition.

His theory was that he wouldn’t be able to take the club any further.

But as he took a break from preparations for the huge clash with Liverpool in Madrid, he revealed the tears he shed after the semi-final were a sign of the emotion he feels for his club.

Pochettino said: “There were two different feelings mixed in the same moment after the semi-final.

“Reaching the Champions League final is the end of an amazing chapter for the club. But, at the same time, the moment you reach the final, it’s like, ‘I want to be involved in the next chapter of the club’.”

Spurs have moved into their new stadium and a state-of-the-art training base during Pochettino’s five years at the club and have become Champions League regulars.

Now he wants to take them to the next level.

Pochettino added: “When we arrived here, always Tottenham was a Europa League club.

“And, after four years, we are now consistently in the Champions League and that was the dream for everyone.

“But now it’s about the glory – now it’s about touching the glory.

“The only way the players and coaching staff can touch the glory is by winning titles.”
