Mauricio Pochettino delivers his verdict on Argentina's decision to call up Giovani Lo Celso

Mauricio Pochettino says that he's unhappy by the decision to call Giovani Lo Celso up for international duty.

The Argentina midfielder featured just three times for Tottenham before suffering a hip injury which ruled him out of action for around two months.

While Lo Celso made his long-awaited comeback in the 2-1 defeat to Liverpool last weekend, the feeling is that the 23-year-old is not yet fully fit and so the decision for him to join up with the Argentina squad is one which could have a negative effect on his return to fitness.

Speaking in his press conference ahead of the Everton clash, Pochettino said: "In general always the manager you want your players at home.

"For him it's going to be tough because when he's nearly fit again to start to play he needs to go away. Changing the dynamics of training sessions situations can happen, some wrong situations.

"Being honest I am not happy, but I accept as I always defend the national team and back the decision of national team as I was a player and know what it feels to play.

"I can do nothing, only to show and describe my feelings."

While Lo Celso could be involved against the Toffees, Pochettino is set to be without Erik Lamela.

The Argentine international was in stunning form in the team's Champions League win over Red Star Belgrade just over a week ago, but he was not included the squad for the Liverpool game.

His absence certainly raised eyebrows and it was confirmed shortly after team news broke that Lamela had in fact missed out due to a thigh injury.

Given Spurs need to start motoring up the league table after a dismal start to a season that promised so much back in August, Pochettino and all Spurs fans will want the 27-year-old back on the pitch as soon as possible.
