Mauricio Pochettino better than Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp? Alan Shearer has his say

Former Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer has poured praise on the work of Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham Hotspur after the Argentinian confirmed another top four finish for Spurs with a 2-2 draw with Everton.

The north Londoners will now turn their attentions to a Champions League final clash with Liverpool in Madrid - an all-English affair that will see the Reds tipped as favourites.

However, Spurs have come back from adversity throughout the season in Europe against Inter, Barcelona, Manchester City and most recently Ajax.

Pep Guardiola on what he expects from Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs next year to challenge Man City

After a late comeback in the second leg in Amsterdam, Lucas Moura completed a shock hattrick to dump out the highly-fancied Dutch side.

Speaking as a pundit on BBC Sport's Match of the Day, Shearer focused on the work of Pochettino to build one of the most consistent sides in the Premier League with regards to top four finishes in recent years.

The Argentinian has been linked with moves to Manchester Unitd and Real Madrid in recent years only to stay in north London and guide his side into a new stadium and the final of the Champions League.

"What a job Pochettino is doing at Tottenham," he said. "Phenominal. When you consider they haven't signed a player in 18 months. Lucas was their last player they signed.

Liverpool fans will hate Everton's brilliant Tottenham Champions League chant

"Top four finish again. Champions League final. Whatever happens in that Champions League final it's still been a phenominal season to get them where they are."

Amid Pep Guardiola guiding Manchester City to win the Premier League title again, and Liverpool's improvements under Jurgen Klopp, Pochettino will be the pick of the bunch for best manager of the year again.
