Maureen Steele: Family informed after woman’s body found in East Lothian

Police have contacted the family of a missing woman after a body was discovered in East Lothian.

Officers were searching for 46-year-old Maureen Steele who disappeared from her home over the weekend.

Cops searching for Maureen made the grim discovery in Longniddry around 8pm on Monday (August 3) after she was reported missing from Tranent on Saturday.

Officers have been in touch with her family.

A police spokesperson said: “Police Scotland can confirm that around 8pm today (Monday, 3 August, 2020) the body of a woman was found in Longniddry in East Lothian."


“Formal identification has yet to take place, however the family of 46-year-old Maureen Steele, who was reported missing from Tranent on Saturday, 1 August, have been informed.

“Officers wish to thank the public for their assistance.”
