Maura Higgins says she isn't worried about new Love Islanders stealing the limelight

Maura Higgins said she isn’t worried about any of the new islanders stealing her limelight.

The Longford native has been a TV hit ever since she arrived in the Love Island villa last summer, shooting up to become one of the biggest celebrities in 2019.

And while the winter version of the show has just launched, she says she has no fears about being eclipsed by the latest batch of singletons.

“I’m not worried about being replaced by the new Islanders,” she said. “I’ve got a lot of stuff coming up, I’ve had to turn down so much!

"I wish everyone going into Love Island the best of luck because it’s a great opportunity for them.”

Maura, 29, and her Love Islander beau Curtis Pritchard are one of the few Love Island couples who are still going strong, since the series ended despite their relationship hitting a bump in the road last week when Curtis was forced to deny reports he "cheated" on New Year’s Eve.

However, Maura told New Magazine she is still as smitten with Curtis as ever and despite her busy Dancing on Ice schedule with professional skater Alexander Demetriou., she still makes time for him.

“I don’t go into my [message] requests on social media,” she said. “I don’t feel I have a reason to.

“I’m happy with Curtis. I don’t need to be looking around.”

“I don’t actually like being on my phone a lot,” she said.

“It’s really important to put your phone down. It always goes away when I get home.”

Meanwhile commenting on her training, she added: “I turn up to my training session with no make-up, my eyes are bloodshot, I’m shattered, my body is aching, I’ve got cuts all over my legs from the blades on the skates.

“I’ve got so many bruises. I never thought it would be this intense. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done but I’m loving every second.”
