Maura Higgins forced to wear helmet during 'dangerous' Dancing On Ice rehearsals

Maura Higgins has shared on Instagram that she has to wear a crash helmet during Dancing On Ice rehearsals - leaving her "petrified".

The former Love Island star, 29, has been forced to take the precaution as she aims to claim back her place as one of the top skaters in the competition after she only scored 25 points last week.

She is now attempting a "dangerous" lift which she is hoping to perform helmet free on Sunday's episode of the ice skating competition.

Updating her fans on her training regime, the reality TV personality took to her Instagram stories clad in her crash helmet on Saturday morning to share her horror and worry about the trick she is practicing with partner Alexander Demetriou.

She said to the camera: "Guys I am about to attempt a very dangerous move on the ice and they are making me wear a helmet because it is that dangerous, God help me!"

The brunette continued: "You may see it on Sunday if it goes to plan but I am petrified."

At the start of the week Maura was "praying for a miracle" as she suffered from a "high temperature" which meant she was unable to attend training.

Posting a photo of herself lying in bed looking upset, the Irish star said: "My training was cancelled today as my temperature was too high!

"Praying I'm good for Sunday but might need a miracle."

Luckily the star has recovered and will be appearing on tomorrow's show, unfortunately Libby Clegg has been forced to pull out of the upcoming show due to suffering from gastroenteritis.

Libby fell ill early in the week and hasn't been able to skate.

Confirming Libby’s illness, ITV said: “Unfortunately Libby will not be able to skate on this Sunday’s show. We all wish her a speedy recovery and hope to see her back on the ice next week.”

Dancing on Ice continues Sundays at 6pm on ITV.
