Maura Higgins dubbed 'real life angel' as she sizzles in beach snaps on lavish birthday trip to Maldives

Maura Higgins is turning up the heat with sizzling snaps from her lavish birthday trip in the Maldives.

Whilst temperatures plummet at home, the Longford born Love Island star is soaking up some winter sun with her pals this week.

And she looked like a golden goddess as she shared snaps posing at the beach in a floral two-piece bikini.

The Irish model turned TV star also posed for a snap alongside her friend Leah Taylor as she enjoyed a splash in the clear blue water.

"We've arrived," she wrote alongside the pictures.

Maura's mammy Sharon was the first to comment, saying: "Beautiful and beautiful looking there x enjoy every minute."

Her Love Island co-star and pal, Molly Mae Hague, added: “My perfect girl.”

Maura went on to show off her stunning view later that evening as she posed on the deck at sunset, saying ‘Dreamy evenings’.

As she donned a backless white dress in the shot, former Love Islander Faye Winter wrote: “Real life angel.”

Tasha Ghouri, who also found fame on the ITV dating series earlier this year, added: “Omg incredible.”

Maura, who is celebrating her 32nd birthday on November 25, has been keeping her fans updated whilst she is away celebrating in style.

As they jetted off, the pair posed with wine in their hands, as Leah said: "Your trip birthday trip starts now Maura."

Maura also shared the inside of her luxurious digs for the holiday at the Kandima Maldives, as well as her view from her balcony and swimming pool.

The trip comes after Maura revealed she almost died from toxic shock syndrome after doctors found a three month old tampon inside her.

The Ann Summers model said she was ‘so ill’ before they found it as she opened up about the traumatic experience.

Recalling the incident on Shopping with Keith Lemon, the grid girl turned reality star said: "I did have a very bad experience.

“I'm not a doctor, I don't know much about that, but I know you are not meant to leave a tampon inside for more than, in think, it's nine hours, I think that’s the max.

"There was a tampon inside me for three months.

"When the doctor found it, it was stuck to my cervix and I was so ill, I did not know what was going on.”

The 31-year-old told how she feared she was going to die and recalled how she had to leave the room after the tampon been removed due to the smell.

The Ballymahon born beauty is hoping to raise awareness about the topic to others by speaking out, and to eliminate any shame around the subject of menstruation and sanitary products.

"There were people that have died from that happening," she said.

"Young girls might not have noticed, like you go on a night out, what if you got really drunk and forgot, like, these things actually do happen, and people don't speak about it.

"I remember even being in school, I used to get my tampon out the bag, push it up my sleeve and then go to the toilet like that…thinking back, why was I doing that? “It's nothing to be ashamed about, that's why I think it's an important topic."
