Maura Derrane and Daithi O'Se left in stitches as Brenda Donohue attempts to cut her fringe on live TV

Today Show hosts Maura Derrane and Daithi O'Se were left in stitches after RTE presenter Brenda Donohue attempted to cut her own hair live on air.

People across the country have been trying to cope with not being able to pay a visit to their local barber for some much needed grooming.

And RTE's Brenda Donohue hoped to offer some tips on home hair cuts as she attempted to cut her fringe by herself.

Brenda was joined on the chat show by hairdresser Pat O'Neill, who guided her through the process by donning his own fake fringe.

Speaking on the show Brenda said her usual beauty routine had taken a hit due to lockdown.

She said: "The roots are going and I'm actually seeing my real nails for the first time in 20 years.

"Everything is just falling apart and then I looked and I can't see out of my fringe it's kind of right down into the eyes.

"Some people are kind of knacky and cut their own kids hair and do all that. I've never done anything like that."

Brenda admitted that she was 'nervous' cutting her own fringe as her efforts led to a slightly lopsided cut.

Naturally, hosts Maura and Daithi were in hysterics before Brenda eventually managed to fix it.

After showing the finished results both Daithi and Maura agreed she had done a good job and that her hair now looked "lovely".

Sharing the hilarious clip on social media Brenda said: "Well, I think I’ve completely lost it!

"I attempted to cut my own fringe LIVE on RTE’s Today Show, under the guidance of Kerry’s most fun- loving and finest hairdresser, Pat O’Neill.

"I was laughing so much, I was surprised I could even hold the scissors."
