Maura Derrane and Daithi O Se defy daytime chat show 'curse' by getting 30 minutes added to RTE slot

RTE afternoon chat show Today With Maura and Daithi is to be extended, it has been reported.

The popular programme, hosted by Maura Derrane and Daithi O Se, is to be lengthened by 30 minutes.

RTE is revamping the daytime show, which has defied the daytime chat show curse.

The programme, which is produced in Cork, will begin at 3pm instead of 3.30pm when it returns in September after the summer break, the Herald reports.

RTE star Daithi O'Se says lads in local pub keep him grounded

Daithi told the newspaper: "It's been going very, very well. Everybody's happy with it.

"There's rumours that we're starting at 3pm in September but it hasn't been fully confirmed yet... but they like it anyway.

"It's going to be a longer show, almost three hours. It's extra work but we're down in Cork anyway, you may as well go for it.

"Loads of people see the repeat in the morning too, so we're going to just keep doing what we're doing."
