Newcastle United secured their first home victory of the season with a 1-0 win over Manchester United and head into the international break clear of the relegation zone.
Steve Bruce had demanded a response after his team collapsed to Leicester City last week, and his side delivered on a rainy night at St James' Park.
The Magpies edged the first half with the best chance falling to Miguel Almiron - the Paraguayan taking too long when played through one-on-one by Sean Longstaff.
But it was the younger Longstaff brother, Matty, who sealed the three points for Newcastle - firing home from the edge of the box with 72 minutes on the clock.
Bruce's men held out with Manchester United failing to really trouble Martin Dubravka.
