Matty Kennedy joins Aberdeen in three-and-a-half-year deal

Matty Kennedy has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with Aberdeen.

The Northern Ireland winger is on the move after St Johnstone agreed a £70,000 fee.

Dons manager Derek McInnes is delighted to have landed Kennedy, who had already signed a pre-contract to join in the summer.

"I’m pleased we managed to reach an agreement with St Johnstone to bring Matty to the club now," McInnes said.

"He is the type of player who can really help make the difference for us.”

Kennedy has scored five goals in 21 appearances this season, and is available for Aberdeen's meeting with St Mirren in the Premiership on Sunday.

The former Everton youngster, who has Scottish parents but was born in Dundonald, switched allegiance to Northern Ireland last October after playing for the Scots at U21 and U19 level.
