Matty Kennedy eyed by Aberdeen as Dons weigh up move for St Johnstone star

Aberdeen are weighing up a pre-contract move for St Johnstone star Matty Kennedy.

The 25-year-old’s deal at McDiarmid Park expires in the summer and he is high on Derek McInnes’ wanted list.

The Aberdeen boss has been asked to be kept informed about Kennedy's situation.

St Johnstone have recently opened talks with their star winger but know that rival clubs can make official moves of their own next month.

Saints boss Tommy Wright has already admitted that vultures are starting to hover around the recently called up Northern Ireland player and wants to get an extension tied up as quickly as possible.

Kennedy has also given Saints a boost by claiming that he feels settled in Perth after a nomadic early career that saw him play for nine different clubs.

Wright signed him on a free transfer from Cardiff City in the summer of last year and since then he has been one of St Johnstone’s top stars.

Aberdeen are also keen to add to their squad in this window with Sunderland’s Dylan McGeouch amongst their targets.

Another St Johnstone player who is attracting interest from elsewhere is Ross Callachan.

The out-of-favour midfielder is on the radar of Championship pair Dundee and Queen of the South.
