Matty Healy quits kissing 1975 fans out of respect for 'Queen' Taylor Swift

The 1975 lead singer Matty Healy honed in his bizarre concert traditions at a recent gig due to the presence of 'Queen' Taylor Swift.

Taylor shocked fans by making a surprise appearance at the band's concert at London's O2 Arena on Wednesday night and went on stage to perform her UK number one hit Anti-Hero live for the very first time.

And her attendance didn't only affect the stunned fans but also Matty as he steered away from his controversial habits of getting intimate with the concertgoers.

In a TikTok video which went viral after the show, he addressed the audience about his tradition of kissing fans during the gig.

He said: "I'm not kissing anybody in front of Taylor Swift, have some respect. In front of the Queen, it's not happening," before the frontman saluted.

The 33-year-old brought Taylor out on stage where she asked: "Is it alright if I sing?" before playing her hit Anti-Hero. She followed it up with a cover of The 1975's song The City from their self-titled debut album.

Last year, Matty revealed how his band worked on Taylor’s hit album Midnights but the songs never made the final cut.

Taylor is a big fan of the indie pop rock band, whose lead singer Matty is the son of Loose Women star Denise Welch.

Denise was also at the London gig and seemed to enjoy herself as she cosied up to Charli XCX for a selfie before grabbing the opportunity to take a once-in-a-lifetime backstage snap with Taylor.

Matty has done plenty of unhinged acts while on stage during The 1975: At Their Very Best tour, including eating raw meat in Madison Square Garden, smoking and appearing to touch himself and his auto-tuned shout outs between songs.

However, in December Matty left fans feeling uncomfortable after appearing to check a woman's age on her ID before snogging her at a gig in Las Vegas.

He spotted a female fan in the crowd holding a sign asking for him to be her "first kiss".

"You better not be f***ing 16," he said as the woman shouted to tell him she has ID proving that she's 22 years old.

He appeared to check the woman's ID and bit down on the laminated card in what looks like a check to make sure it's real.

After being satisfied, Matt jumps off the stage and lunges at the red-haired woman.

"Are you ready? Are you ready for your first kiss?" he asked her, grabbing her face. He then gave her a snog as surrounding fans scream in delight.
