Matthijs de Ligt transfer: Real Madrid 'join Man Utd in race for Ajax defender'

Real Madrid have reportedly entered the race for Ajax defender Matthijs De Ligt.

De Ligt is almost certain to leave the Dutch club this summer with Barcelona , Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United all keen on securing his services.

But reports in Spain say Real Madrid are now also in the running, despite already splashing £130million on Eden Hazard from Chelsea .

Los Blancos' interest will undoubtedly intensify the race for De Ligt with their Clasico rivals Barca still favourites to land his signature.

Netherlands star De Ligt is still on holiday after helping his country to the final of the UEFA Nations League where they were beaten by Portugal.

PSG are also very keen and could have money to spend if Neymar departs the French capital following comments made by president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

Juventus have also showed interest but have failed in their bid to strike a deal with Mino Raiola thus far.

De Ligt has become one of football's hottest properties after a storming season for Ajax this term.

The 19-year-old has become an inspirational captain despite his tenders years, taking the Dutch giants to within seconds of the Champions League final.

But he did lead them to a league and cup double in 2018-19 in what looks set to be a final act as an Ajax player before moving on to one of Europe's powerhouses.
