Matthijs de Ligt told to make transfer demand amid Man Utd, Liverpool and Barcelona interest

Matthijs de Ligt has been ordered to demand guaranteed game time at whatever club he decides to join by Ronald Koeman.

Centre back de Ligt is one of the most wanted wonder kids in Europe with Manchester United , Liverpool , Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain among those hoping to grab his signature.

The Dutchman had a meteoric rise at Ajax last season as he played 55 times and lifted the Eredivisie title, the Dutch Cup and reached the Champions League semi-final.

And national team manager Koeman has told de Ligt to make getting plenty of minutes the priority in any transfer.

"I spoke to Matthijs one week ago about his future and that's secret," Koeman said ahead of Holland's UEFA Nations League clash with England.

"What I told all the young players who may be thinking about making a step, is that the most important thing is to keep playing.

"Keep getting minutes to develop your football, that's the most important thing and the way the club is playing is also a really important reason to make your choice.

"He and his family, his agents and the people around him will make the best decision for him."

De Ligt, who is also wanted by  Juventus , has recently spoken out on his future and admitted he has "several options" to choose from.

"I am very excited about what could happen in the near future. I am also trying to stay calm, though," he told RTL4.

"I view this as a challenge — that is the most important thing.

"There are several options and I really want to pick the best one. Logically, one option is better than another.

"Life abroad could be difficult, but I am still an ordinary Dutch guy, I am no different to the others. Perhaps living abroad will be more intense for me."
